AUCTIONS: General information about auctions

We organise three public auctions each year.

They are held at the Ramada Plaza Antwerp Hotel, Desguinlei 94, 2018 Antwerp (Belgium), near the Ring (exit n° 5) and the exhibition centre called "Antwerp Expo".
bulletAll lots are sold by auction in a single day.
bulletWritten (postal) bids are accepted.
bulletThere are previews during the two weeks prior to the auction at our shop, and on the day of the auction in the sales room.
bulletYou can apply for a catalogue with detailed and accurate descriptions of the lots, and illustrations, of which many are in colour. The catalogue is free in Belgium, and for mailings abroad we only charge the postage.

What can you find at our auctions?

bulletThere is always a sizeable offer of all good sets from classic Belgium.
bulletOf the Belgian stamps, there are spectacular 'pieces', a vast variety and some significant curiosities.
bulletThere is a wide range of foreign stamps, with many interesting collections, accumulations, and exchange material.
bulletFinally, you'll find covers, postcards, literature, and so on.

Stamp auctions - how do they work?

bulletWell, the same as an art or antiques auction, or indeed any other.
bulletThe stamps are sold to the highest bidder. The final price is subject to a 18% surcharge (all costs included).
bulletOn occasions it's possible to bargain. You can find starters collections (sometimes in a brand new album) at very low prices. Good classical material or very rare stamps however can reach very high prices.
bulletWith a stroke of good luck, you'll pick up the missing stamps, letter, or year sets for your collection ... for a good price!
bulletFull sales conditions are outlined in the catalogue.

Can you put lots under our care ... and what are the costs?

bulletWe will gladly accept your material!
bulletWe guarantee that the sale will be carried out in a discreet, efficient and professional manner, with good conditions (commission is in relation to the importance of the lot), correct handling and prompt payment (within 30 days of the auction).
bulletWe will cover all costs (printing of the catalogue, rental of the sales room, process server, and so on).
bulletAn absolute minimum of unsold Belgian lots, with an average of only 5% of lots withdrawn from sales, means that 19 out of 20 lots are sold.
bulletWe get top prices for Belgian stamps, up to 100% and more of the catalogue value.
