In the early 1980's he was a participant in many exhibitions and competitions (at regional and national level) gaining silver and gold medals for the «Royal Image Elström Type».

In 1982 he published on

	the plate-numbers and varieties of the Royal Image Elström Type.
	and also on their dates of printing.

From 1984 he was involved in buying, exchanging and dealing in stamps at stamp fairs and in philatelic societies.

In 1989 he took over the Hector Raassens stamp shop in Antwerp (Belgium) and started publishing a regular six-monthly brochure. He continued an active participation in the most important stamp fairs.

In 1993 he set up Luk Vanduffel bvba. In the same year his activities expanded through the organisation of International Stamp Auctions and expertizing/evaluation services.
